Gas utility SPP has started selling electricity too. As of the beginning of this year small and medium-sized businesses can order electricity from Slovakia’s biggest natural-gas supplier. “We want to boost our position as the biggest energy supplier on the Slovak market. SPP meets all the prerequisites for success in the business of electricity,” said SPP chairman Jean-Jacques Ciazynski, as quoted by the SITA newswire.
Like its competitors, SPP wants to attract clients by offering them lower electricity prices than traditional suppliers. “The main competitive advantage of electricity from SPP will be the price. We offer electricity that is up to 10 percent cheaper than supplies from traditional suppliers in the given region”, said the director of SPP’s gas sales department, Dušan Randuška. SPP wants to continue to acquire electricity via transactions on the wholesale market. SPP’s first small and medium-sized corporate clients will get their first power supplies from April this year. SPP would also like to offer electricity to household customers from next year.
