THE GERMAN Dräxlmaier and Russian-Japanese MPG Holding companies would like to employ as many as 1,600 people from the town of Rimavská Sobota, which lies in a region with 30 percent unemployment, but only about half its inhabitants have higher than an elementary school education.
Dräxlmaier supplies electro-systems to the car industry and wants to hire an additional 1,200 workers. MPG Holding intends to build a silicon manufacturing plant there, the Hospodárske noviny wrote.
Many unemployed Slovaks have problems qualifying for a job with foreign investors, though, as they suffer from a limited education, inability to speak foreign languages, and lack of experience with PCs.
This same issue occurred a few months ago when dozens of investors arrived within a short period of time in the north-western Považie region. The problem is now moving to less developed regions, where investors have had to select from a lower number of candidates with a suitable education.
