The government on September 24 approved the Agriculture Ministry's proposal to appoint Miroslav Mihálik, a former member of the Slovak Land Fund (SPF) supervisory board, as the new SPF director as of September 25, 2008.
Mihálik is replacing current SPF head Miroslav Šebek, who will become state secretary of the Environment Ministry in line with a proposal submitted by Prime Minister and Smer chairman Robert Fico. The post of Environment Ministry State Secretary has been vacant since August 20, when the government removed Dušan Munko from the ministry in order to install him as director of state insurer Sociálna Poisťovňa.
