Until February 25, they can compete for the money from the package – including those which have already received finances from EU funds. From the money, facilities will be reconstructed and enhanced, and modular kindergartens will be built.

“This money should serve for the reconstruction of kindergartens, [buildings] will extend and container schools will be constructed,” Education Minister Juraj Draxler told the Sme.

Draxler considers the second measure as the first step towards fulfilling demands of all parents which should happen by 2023. In comparison with 2004, the number of unhandled parents’ requests is six times higher.

The worst situation is in Bratislava region, where kindergartens are only able to take every second child.
