HEALTH care workers have been growing increasingly dissatisfied with their salaries, causing doctors in Bratislava to consider going on strike.
According to Marián Kollár, head of the LOZ labor union, medical workers have no interest in “endless negotiations whose only result is the claim there’s a lack of finances for health care”.
The union has, therefore, called on the government to reach a prompt solution by the end of March or face a strike, the Hospodárske noviny wrote.
Other health care labor unions have also supported the call to action. The Slovak labor union of health care and social services (SOZZaSS) submitted a demand yesterday for wages to be increased by 25 percent.
SOZZaSS represents around 40,000 members, while LOZ represents 2,000 doctors, around half of whom are in Bratislava.
