Antitrust Office head Darina Paroulková has sent a letter to Health Minister Ivan Valentovič, warning him of the consequences of his current proposal to ban health insurance companies from paying their shareholders dividends, the Sme daily reported on June 20. The Office reminded Valentovič that his proposals are at odds with the Constitution and international agreements.

Paroulková said that there is a threat that health insurers would quit the market and a state insurance monopoly would be established. Policyholders would have to pay for it and that the insurers would sue the state, she wrote.
