Pavol Hrušovský was re-elected chairman of the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) on June 16.
Hrušovský received 194 out of a total of 337 valid votes, while his main rival, former party vice-chairman Vladimír Palko, received only 110. Ján Morovič came in third. Morovič ran only after he was nominated as a candidate by a group of delegates at the congress itself and only received seven votes.
After the election, Hrušovský said that he was moved by the results and called on his rivals to help form a single party team.
Hrušovský said he is convinced that the KDH is not in crisis, as former party vice-chairman Palko has stated.
However, speaking on STV public television’s politics talk show 'O Päť Minút Dvanásť' (Five Minutes to Twelve) on June 16, Hrušovský admitted that the KDH does have internal problems.
