A proposal to raise the minimum wage as of the beginning of October was withdrawn from the agenda on June 25. The proposal would have increased it from the current Sk7,600 to Sk8,260 or Sk8,450, the SITA news wire wrote.
"The draft was withdrawn … because there is the prospect of an agreement between representatives of employers and employees on a new system of regular increases of the minimum wage, with the possibility to negotiate,” the council chair and Minister of Labour and Social Affairs Viera Tomanová said.
The cabinet has already drawn up a new draft bill on the minimum wage that has yet to be agreed upon.
Employers and trade unions should reach an agreement on it with the cabinet by July 20, when the topic is to be discussed again.
