However, locals, doubt this and 1,500 of them have signed a petition against the alleged refugee camp so far. They claim that work, which also takes place at night are too long to be merely part of an exercise. There have been exercise before, one of them recalled but they were shorter and only lasted a day or a maximum of two days.
“I am well aware if the emotional and humanitarian connotations of the current refugee crisis in Europe and Interior Ministry representatives have assured me that there is no refugee camp in Malacky,” town Mayor Juraj Říha told the Sme daily on September 8.
The Ministry did not provide any information to Sme regarding details of the alleged exercise but they said that its aim is to prepare the state emergency and rescue forces for natural and humanitarian disasters. Security analyst Andor Sandor commented for the daily that such an exercise is the best thing the interior ministry can do in the current situation.
