The first global wireless telecommunication company, Iridium LLC, wants to provide services in 239 countries and all continents around the world. Beginning September 23, it will be possible in Slovakia to use Iridium's worldwide connection. During the first phase, Iridium will offer its services on the basis of roaming arrangements (GSM homed service package), which was signed between the Iridium company and both Slovak GSM operators EuroTel Bratislava,a.s. and Globtel GSM, a.s., Bratislava. They will also provide distribution and sales outlets for Iridium products in the Slovak Republic.
If both sides fulfill all necessary contract conditions, Slovakia may start to see more services and packages like the homed service package Iridium 8816 (providing direct connection with numbers worldwide) and Iridium 8817 (direct connections in Slovak territory), said Stanislav Vanek, director of the Telecommunications Section of the Slovak Ministry of Transport, Post and Telecommunications.
