ACCORDING to the preliminary data from the National Labour Office (ÚPSVR), the jobless rate was down 0.83 percent year-on-year in April at 11.04 percent.
The number of active jobseekers was 282,473, down 9,790 month-on-month and down 24,520 year-on-year, SITA wrote.
In total, there were 315,569 jobseekers, including women on maternity leave and other people who cannot take up jobs immediately, which is 13,700 less month-on-month and down 28,610 year-on-year.
The jobless rate calculated from the number of all jobseekers was 12.33 percent, down 0.54 percent compared with March and down 0.97 year-on-year.
According to the SME daily, the highest jobless rate of 17.9 percent was recorded in the central Slovak Banská Bystrica region, while the lowest unemployment was in the Bratislava region at a mere 2.6 percent.
