However, this will not happen, as the time period during which this decision was to be made, has expired. Supreme Court President Daniela Švecová proposed to strip Harabin of his post, spokesperson for the Supreme Court Boris Urbančík said, as quoted by the Pravda daily. However, it was not decided upon due to the objection of Michal Boroň who presides over the panel of judges that was assigned to deal with this proposal.
A new chairman was added to the panel of judges – Juraj Florovič who accentuated that the suggestion to suspend judge Harabin could not have been decided on as the ruling would be unlawful since the 10 day period (between November 20 and 30) during which the verdict should have been handed down, expired. The proposal was forwarded to be merged with another disciplinary proposal; and Boroň objected against him deciding on the latter proposal, citing personal bias towards judge Viliam Dohňanský.
Some judges – including Harabin himself – have opined that Boroň could have still decided on the proposal concerning the former minister, while refusing to deal with the other one. Florovič got the case too late to be able to decide on it, he said as quoted by the SITA newswire.
This has been Švecová’s third proposal for disciplinary action against Harabin. The Supreme Court chairwoman called on all chairs of disciplinary panels who are to decide on her proposals concerning Harabin to inform her until when they will reach a verdict on them. Harabin deems this, as quoted by the TASR newswire, as a hidden message and pressure exerted on the panel heads.
