The Judicial Council did not elect the next president of the Supreme Court in the first election on September 9.

One of the three judges who ran for the post, Ivetta Macejková, Soňa Mesiarkinová and Jana Bajánková, needed to gain the absolute majority of the votes by 18 members of the Judicial Council.
The election was conducted in two rounds. In the first round, 17 ballots out of 18 (the number of members of the council) were valid. Jana Bajánková gained eight votes, two were against and seven abstained. One member of the council voted for Ivetta Macejková, five were against and 11 abstained. Seven members voted for Soňa Mesiarkinová, two were against and eight abstained.
