A late-night party by foreign students in the Slovak city of Trnava ended only after police were called in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Officers received a phone complaint from a resident at one of the city’s student dormitories, who said their sleep was being disturbed by loud music and shouting from a gathering hosted by Italian students.
“When we arrived, we confirmed the report and, in English, told the noisy residents to end their party,” police spokeswoman Zlatica Antalová said.
The group eventually quietened down, and the resident who had complained later thanked the officers.
“I’d like to thank the night patrol in Trnava for helping maintain peace at the dormitory,” the resident said. “The policewoman spoke in English and explained to the Italians that, at one in the morning, it was time to go to their rooms.”
