Kaliňák signs Sk1-billion deal with Kia

Kia Slovakia will be the chief supplier of police cars for the Interior Ministry in the coming years, the Pravda daily reported on August 27.

Interior Minister Róbert Kaliňák signed a contract on the purchase of Kia Cee'd cars worth an estimated Sk1.2 billion.

Kia is to produce several thousand cars for the police. The ministry chose Kia cars, which have already been tested by policemen in the past, based on a public tender.

Four applicants enrolled in the tender, but only two of them met the criteria set by the ministry. The second car was the Škoda Octavia.
