The coalition's Christian Democrat (KDH) MP Anna Záborská said that the party had not allowed anti-discrimination clauses to be included in the recently passed labour code because some jobs should be barred to homosexuals, such as teaching children.
"I don't want to discriminate against anyone, but with these people there is the potential chance that their outlook on life in basic family matters, on male and female relations, could influence children," said Záborská.
Sociologist Ľudomír Falťan responded by saying, "Sexual orientation has nothing to do with professional conduct".
The EU is pressuring Slovakia to introduce anti-discrimination legislation.
