New parking rules apply in Košice from November 1. The city has changed parking prices and also reshuffled paid zones.
Until yesterday, November 8, parking was free due to technical and system security changes related to parking in the city.
Locality
The original Central City Zone (CMZ) is now called Location A. Fejova Street and part of the area between Štefániková and Svätoplukova Streets are now excluded from this location. These streets have become part of residential areas instead.
At the same time, residential areas (RL) have been expanded. The existing RLs were merged into larger units with slight modifications.
The city said that the original resident parking cards are valid within their existing territorial scope. But new resident cards will be valid only within the relevant RL.
No changes apply to special parking spaces at the Merkúr shopping centre and at the Public Cemetery.
Tariff zones
As for the city centre, the basic parking fee in tariff zone A1 will be €3 per hour, in A2 it will be €2 per hour, and in tariff zone N, which represents the Pri Jazdiarni parking lot, it will be €0.60 per hour.
For example, Fejova Street will move from tariff zone 2 to BN. All the changes are published online.
"In the case of payment via the application, the price is lower by 10 percent," the city reminds the public.
Holders of bonus cards will have additional discounts. "The bonus card will allow residents with permanent residence in Košice to reduce the basic parking ticket rate by 25 percent in regular paid parking spaces," added the city. Discounts do not apply when paying by SMS.
Residents can also use a resident card, which will now be issued exclusively to people with permanent residence in a home located in the relevant location. For long-term parking, the others will fall into the "abonent (subscriber)" category, where price regulation is higher. Drivers can also purchase a subscription card.
No guarantee
According to the city, the parking card enables long-term parking in a given location or in a given tariff zone, within the entire regulated zone, without the need to purchase parking tickets every day.
However, it does not guarantee that it will be possible to park on a given street at all times.
"However, regulation in the form of a price combined with checks should lead to parking being possible without major problems" said the city.
Parking cards can be purchased through the ParkDots information system or in person at the contact point at Košice City Hall. More detailed information is published on the website parking.kosice.sk.
