MasterCard planning contactless payments by year's end

The first payments made through a new contactless payment technology could take place in Slovakia by the last quarter of this year, the SITA newswire wrote.

MasterCard Worldwide concluded an agreement with Global Payments Europe at the end of January 2008 on the implementation of new contactless PayPass technology in Slovakia. The new technology is meant for quick payments for transactions not exceeding Sk500. MasterCard informed that the start of mutual cooperation between the companies is of key importance for introduction of the contactless payment solution in Slovakia. SITA
