DUŠAN Borženský, alias Borža, will spend 14 years in jail for the murder of a rival gang boss from Košice, Karol Kolárik, the Supreme Court decided, confirming the verdict of a lower court in Košice, the Pravda daily wrote.
However, the Supreme Court cancelled the original verdict in which the Košice court also found Borža guilty of robbery in the Czech Republic.
In a statement sent to The Slovak Spectator, Justice Minister Daniel Lipšic said he did not rule out filing a special appeal against the 14-year jail sentence. The minister considers it too mild with regards to the fact that an organized criminal group carried out the murder.
"The offenders in pre-meditated mafia murders do not even have mercy for the lives of innocent people, and therefore have to be punished as hard as possible," said the minister.
