The cabinet approved a draft proposal to terminate the operation of the guard platoon of the Slovak Armed Forces in the EUFOR-ALTHEA military operation in Bosnia and to redeploy members of the armed forces to this new military operation as jointly submitted by the defence and foreign affairs departments.

The proposal now needs to be approved by parliament.

Next year the Slovak soldiers should be in charge of the ‘contact service’ in cooperation with governmental and non-governmental organisations as well as international organisations working within the territory of the military operation, with the goal of ensuring an adequate reaction by the EU in the event of potential changes in the security situation.
