A total of 52 percent of Slovaks expect the economic situation in Slovakia to worsen this year, while only 12 percent believe that the opposite will be the case, according to a Eurobarometer survey that TNS Slovakia conducted in Slovakia recently.
As many as 87 percent of around 1,000 Slovaks who took part in the poll said that they view the state of the national economy as bad, the TASR newswire quoted the Eurobarometer survey. This is more than the EU-wide average of 72 percent. According to one in two Slovaks, unemployment is the most serious problem plaguing the country. It was followed by the economic situation as a whole (40 percent), and inflation and rising prices (38 percent).
