Candidates from the Civic Conservative Party (OKS) will not appear on Most-Híd's slate in the general election scheduled for March 10, Most-Híd spokesperson Nora Czuczorová told the TASR newswire on Thursday, October 27. Four OKS MPs were elected to parliament on the Most-Híd slate at the 2010 general election. The Most-Híd statement came following talks between Most-Hid chairman Béla Bugár and OKS leader Peter Zajac on possible co-operation.
"We've found common ground with OKS representatives on many issues recently. We respect the values of our partners, but we can't agree with uncompromising stances that prevent us from adopting healthy compromises in the interest of achieving higher aims," said Bugár after the session, stressing that every politician must be able to make compromises when the future of the country is at stake. "The fact that OKS MPs helped to topple the government [of Iveta Radičová] excludes the possibility of them appearing on our slate," he said.
The Conservative Democrats of Slovakia (KDS), a political party established during the 2006-10 parliamentary term by four prominent renegades from the Christian-Democratic Movement (KDH), has meanwhile said it wants to return to national politics on the slate of the Ordinary People faction. The latter is planning to establish a party that will allow independent figures to be elected to parliament. KDS chairman Vladimír Palko said on Thursday that his party is in talks with Ordinary People, as well as the OKS, the SITA newswire reported. He added that negotiations are likely to continue for several days.
