The former cabinet of Radičová dismissed Muňko, citing his failure as the director of state-owned insurer to meet commitments and responsibilities set by law. More specifically, SP – under Muňko – failed to carry out its part of the agreement on providing information from its database and information system to the Tax Directorate and failed to meet its strategic goals, the TASR newswire wrote.

Originally, Muňko’s term should have expired on August 20, but due to his suspension by the former cabinet, and based on the verdict of the Constitutional Court, the current government of Prime Minister Robert Fico decided on extending his term, the Sme daily wrote on August 21. The daily also wrote that Muňko got a reimbursement amounting to more than €100,000 for the violation of his rights. When he returned to the top post in the agency, current Labour Minister Ján Richter wanted him to return the mandate of member of parliament, but later he withdrew the request.

“Dušan Muňko won the legal dispute at the Constitutional Court and, based on this verdict, has returned back to Sociálna Poisťovňa,” Fico said, as quoted by TASR. “He will serve for the duration of time he couldn’t hold his public office because of his unconstitutional ouster.”
