The most recent poll by the Focus agency revealed that Robert Fico's Smer party would have drawn 39.7 percent support if a parliamentary election had been held in September, the TASR newswire reported.
The Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) had voter support of 16 percent and the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) polled at 10.8 percent. The poll was among 1,040 adult respondents.
The Freedom and Solidarity party (SaS) and Most-Híd party would have both been under 10 percent at 8.3 and 7.3 percent, respectively. The Slovak National Party (SNS) had the support of 6.1 percent. Four other parties were registered in the poll: the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) at 3.3 percent, the Movement for the Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) at 3 percent, the Communist Party at 2.5 percent and SDL party at 1.1 percent.
