One of the steps to be taken regarding Slovakia's historic first presidency of the EU is to create a logo. The government approved a report on April 1 on the state of Slovakia's preparations for the presidency, which was presented by the Foreign Affairs Ministry, the TASR newswire reported.
In addition, the number of staff working for central government authorities will be enhanced, as well as the Permanent Representation of Slovakia in Brussels. Training for employees involved in preparing and carrying out the presidency will continue. Additional public procurements will be organised, and conference facilities at the Reduta building on Župné Square and at the Bôrik Hotel will be supplemented with extra technical equipment. Sponsorship cooperation will be discussed with the private sector.
The foreign affairs and culture ministries plan to sign a memorandum on cooperation on preparing cultural and social presentations. According to the envisaged work programme, Slovakia will be visited by more than 20,000 delegates. Opening ceremonies will take place in Bratislava and Brussels early in July of next year as part of the cultural events.
The expenditures on preparing and carrying out the presidency are estimated at €15.6 million, of which €12 million will go to personal, travel and accommodation expenses.
