Negotiations involving labour, business and government failed to come to an agreement on the minimum wage at a session in Bratislava on August 12, Emília Kršíková, State Secretary at the Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and the Family, told the TASR newswire on August 12.
As a result, the ministry will continue according to the usual legal mechanism and submit a proposal without reaching a compromise, TASR wrote. The ministry has proposed raising the minimum wage to Sk8,690 (€288.87).
"Despite our efforts, we haven’t made any progress," said Kršíková.
The government went to the Economic and Social Council (HSR) negotiations with hopes of seeing the minimum wage increase from its current Sk8,100 (€268.87) to Sk9,000 (€298.75). The trade unionists demanded €300 (Sk9,037), and they were not willing to reduce that significantly. The employers demanded no more than Sk8,863 (€294.20).
