SLOVAK President Ivan Gašparovič has still not appointed Ivan Radoša, who was approved as the new Slovak ambassador to Great Britain last year.
"The president has yet to decide who should occupy the post of Ambassador to Great Britain ... and the date for making the decision also remains unknown at this time," presidential spokesman Marek Trubač told TASR on March 19, declining to comment on speculation that Gašparovič may have objections to Radoša's nomination.
Radoša worked as a branch manager for Ľudová banka in Trenčín and has no experience as a diplomat. In 2004, he was nominated by the liberal ANO Party in a failed campaign for a seat in the European Parliament.
According to Foreign Affairs Minister Eduard Kukan, though, Radoša is prepared for his mission. "This issue is likely to have to wait until after the June general election," Kukan told TASR.
He added that Gašparovič and he had agreed there would be no new ambassadorial nominations for the time being.
