Slovak Parliament on June 19 rejected an amendment to the Income Tax Act proposed by the SDKU, KDH, and SMK opposition parties to decrease the income tax rate on individuals and business from the current 19 percent to 17 percent.
Out of 143 MPs in attendance, 64 voted in favour of the proposal, 30 against, and 49 abstained. The amendment was supported by all opposition MPs present, along with Jana Laššáková from Smer and Peter Dubravay of SNS.
The amendment required 76 of 150 votes to pass.
