Jahnátek said he sees potential growth in the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, which currently account for 37 percent of Slovakia's total exports.

Last year, the engineering industry in Slovakia turned profits amounting to Sk446.8 billion (€13.2 billion), which represents an 11-percent rise year-on-year.

Car production is expected to make up more than half of all industrial production and more than 60 percent of total exports in 2008.
