IN ALL, 21 political parties, including the Free Forum (SF), Nádej, the New Citizen’s Alliance (ANO), the Slovak National Party (SNS), submitted their candidates lists for the June elections by the midnight deadline on March 19.
Early parliamentary elections will be held on June 17.
SF leader Zuzana Martináková tops her party's candidate list, followed by, among others, actor Marek Ťapák, Peter Body, Branislav Opaterný and Ondrej Skodler, the news wire SITA wrote.
ANO’s parliamentary deputy and deputy chairwoman Eva Černá made her party’s top spot. In second place is film director Dušan Rapoš, followed by former TV Markíza anchor Aneta Parišková and ANO chairman Pavol Rusko.
Miroslav Maxon leads the Movement for Democracy’s (HZD) list. He is followed by Jozef Grapa, Rudolf Žiak, Marta Aibeková, Jozef Šimko and Adrian Kromka. The party’s list also features musician Jan Berky Mrenica, Jr. and former Army Chief of Staff Jozef Tuchyňa.
Pavel Dubček achieved the number two spot on the election list of the newest party, Nádej (Hope), after Former Health Ministry State Secretary Alexandra Novotná, who will go into the election at the top. Other candidates include Economy Minister Jirko Malchárek and Culture Minister Frantisek Tóth.
The non-parliamentary nationalist Slovak National Party’s (SNS) list had party chairman Jan Slota in first place and his deputy Anna Belousovová (Maliková) in second. Publisher Sergej Chelemendik, who’s the election campaign leader, is the party's number seven candidate.
The Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ), the Christian-Democratic Movement (KDH), the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) and the Smer-Social Democracy party submitted their candidate lists on March 17. The SDKÚ will release a definitive version on Monday, but, ccording to available information, party leader Mikuláš Dzurinda tops the list and Finance Minister Ivan Mikloš is number two. Other names include Labour Minister Iveta Radičová, Foreign Minister Eduard Kukan, Interior Minister Martin Pado and Transport Minister Pavol Prokopovič.
On March 16, the opposition Smer-Social Democracy submitted its list of candidates with party leader Robert Fico in first and Robert Kaliňák in second. Other names include Pavol Paška, Dušan Čaplovič and Igor Šulaj.
Béla Bugár is the election leader for his Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK), with Pal Csáky in second, followed by Gyula Bárdos and Miklos Duray.
The People's Party-Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) submitted its list last. Former PM Vladimír Mečiar remains in first position, followed by Beata Sániová and Milan Rehák.
