The price of petrol in Slovakia increased as of Wednesday, February 18, although diesel should remain the same, the Natankuj.sk website announced, as quoted by the TASR newswire.

The price of 95-octane petrol increased by 2 cents to breach the €1-per-litre threshold, at around €1.010 per litre. The price of diesel will remain at approximately €1.080 per litre.

The reason for the price increase is continuing growth in prices at the fuels exchange in Rotterdam, said Natankuj.sk analyst Tomas Novotny, adding that these increases are in turn based on a reduction in commercial reserves around the world, partly due to lower production at U.S. refineries. TASR
