Hackers who sent a fraudulent e-mail message to clients of Slovenská Sporiteľňa savings bank (SLSP) asking for their account details have replaced the English-language messages with Slovak, ESET IT security company worker Martin Baranovič said on March 26.
"Our company has been tracking the Slovak wording of the phishing attack on Sporiteľňa since early morning after updating its sample database," said Baranovič.
The messages ask the bank's clients for confidential information required to complete an enclosed form, apparently in order to abuse the information for financial gain.
"Banking institutions would never ask clients to complete data via e-mail," said Juraj Malcho, head of the ESET antivirus laboratory.
SLSP was alerted to the original English-language e-mails on March 24 by hundreds of its clients. It has filed a criminal complaint with the police. TASR
