Over 200 people commemorated on April 29 the second anniversary of the death of Róbert Remiáš, who was killed when his car was destroyed by an explosive device. An agent with the Slovak Intelligence Service (SIS), Remiáš before his death served as the contact person between the Slovak opposition and Oskar Fegyveres. The two SIS agents claimed that the government, using SIS equipment and personnel, was directly involved in the August 1995 kidnapping of President Michal Kováč's son, Michal Kováč Jr. At the April 29 ceremony, Eduard Remiáš (Róbert's father, pictured above) reiterated his belief that his son had been murdered by the SIS. "Everything went exactly according to the plan of the SIS, which controlled the entire operation from the parking lot across the street from here," he said.
