Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico announced his support for Russian President Vladimir Putin’s opposition to the US’ plan to build an anti-missile base in the Czech Republic and Poland during his one-day official visit to Russia on May 4.
Fico said that he understands Russia's fears and thinks the main problem is insufficient communication between Washington and Moscow. He assured Putin that he would never permit a US radar base to be built in Slovakia.
Fico confirmed that his government supports the defence industry. He said that they do not fear arms production in Slovakia. He confirmed that Slovakia and Russia are both interested in cooperation in development, production and the sale of weapons.
