PM Robert Fico underwent coronary bypass surgery at the National Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (NÚSCH). It started at 6:00. Doctors said shortly after 11:00 that it went well and the patient is stabilised.
The Denník N daily reported on its website that the doctors tried to divert blockage of the coronary artery at three places. Such an operation is done under general anesthesia and lasts three-six hours.
Fico was hospitalised on April 14, after feeling pain in his chest and problems with his heart. The doctors found out during the examination that he has constricted blood vessels. Though he was first supposed to stay at the hospital overnight, doctors kept him there the whole week.

If the PM does not have any complications after the surgery, he will spend another seven-ten days in hospital. It will require an additional seven weeks to recover, Denník N wrote.
The Government’s Office remains silent about Fico’s health condition.
