Finance Minister Ján Počiatek survived a no-confidence motion in parliament on June 25. The opposition had requested his dismissal due to accusations that he leaked confidential information to financial groups.
Only three members of the HZDS parliamentary caucus were present for the vote: Tibor Cabaj and Beata Sániová, who voted against dismissing him, and Jozef Halecký, who abstained.
In total, 48 MPs voted to dismiss him, 55 MPs voted against it, and one abstained. A dismiss requires 76 votes.
Počiatek is the third minister of Robert Fico’s cabinet to survive a no-confidence vote in parliament. The previous two were Labour Minister Viera Tomanová and Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek. SITA
