Beginning in autumn, police officers in Slovakia will be able to directly read on their cars that their duty is to help and protect people – just in case they forget why they are on duty – stated the Police Corps President, Jaroslav Spišiak, at a news conference on June 27, the SITA newswire reported.
The "Help and Protect" emblem will be placed on thousands of police cars as well as on vehicles of the integrated rescue service, fire fighters and the civil defence service. The Interior Ministry has a fleet of about 8,000 vehicles.
"It appeared to us that this slogan best describes the content of police work and the work of other units and it will be unified [for all]," explained Interior Minister Daniel Lipšic to journalists, as quoted by SITA. The slogan was inspired by foreign countries and recently the Czech Republic chose the same slogan, SITA wrote.
