Poll: HZDS would win elections, Smer would show

According to the latest poll conducted by the MVK polling agency, if new general elections were to take place, the opposition HZDS would win by a large margin with 25.8% of the popular vote, followed by the current government coalition leader the Slovak Democratic Coalition (SDK) with 12.4%, and Róbert Fico's new Smer (Direction) party with 12%.

The remaining parties, in order of finish, were the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) with 8.8%, the Party of the Democratic Left (SDĽ) with 7.5%, the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) with 7.4%, the Slovak National Party (SNS) with 7% and the Party of Civic Understanding (SOP) with 5.3%.

The poll was conducted between November 8 and 15 with a total of 1,217 respondents.
