Poll: Smer is an election winner, Kiska’s party is getting stronger

If a general election took place at the end of August, Smer would win with 19.6 percent, ahead of a coalition of Progressive Slovakia (PS) and Spolu (Together) that would be supported by 15.5 percent. Third would be the far-right People’s Party – Our Slovakia (ĽSNS) led by Marian Kotleba with 10.9 percent.

This stems from the poll carried out by the AKO agency conducted for the Hospodárske Noviny daily between August 26 and 29 on 1,000 respondents.

Next would be Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) with 9 percent, followed by the new party of Andrej Kiska Za Ľudí (For the People) with 8.8 percent, Boris Kollár’s Sme Rodina (We Are Family) with 7.6 percent, the Ordinary People and Independent Personalities (OĽaNO) with 7.3 percent and the Slovak National Party (SNS) with 7.1 percent. The last party to make it to past the 5-percent threshold would be the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) with 6.3 percent.
