If parliamentary elections had taken place in early October, the Smer party would have received the most votes (44.8 percent), according to a survey conducted by the polling agency UVVM, part of the Statistics Office of the Slovak Republic.
Compared to September, the party's popularity dropped almost two percentage points. The poll was conducted on October 1-7 among 1,272 respondents.
The opposition Slovak Democratic and Christian Union (SDKÚ) posted an almost two-percentage point increase in support, with 13.6 percent. The Slovak National Party (SNS) was the third-most popular party in Slovakia, with 10.6 percent support (down 0.4 percent).
Nineteen percent of respondents said they would not vote; 15 percent were undecided.
Among other parties, the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) received 9.4 percent support (down 1.2 percent); the Christian-Democratic Movement (KDH) 8.5 percent (up 0.1 percent); and the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) 8.3 percent (up 1.6 percent). SITA
