“The head of the senate will study the file and decide about the next steps i.e. if it will be neessary to pre-discuss this charge or whether it is possible to launch a main trial,” the spokesperson of the Trenčín region courts service, Roman Tarabus, said, as quoted by the Sme daily website.
In March this year Jánoš was accused of abusing his wife. This followed the publication of transcripts of audio recordings on the internet on March 3 in which he was heard verbally abusing and threatening his wife. Since then Jánoš has consistently denied the accusations.
After the charges were brought, he resigned as an MP and also as Smer district head in Prievidza (Trenčín Region). The lawyer representing Jánoš' wife Iveta – Ivan Katrinec – has filed a complaint with the Prosecutor General’s Office against Jánoš for alleged blackmail, threats and coercion.

Katrinec ceased to act as Iveta Jánošová’s representative on October 12, when he was replaced by Bratislava-based lawyer Ivan Pecník.
