PSA plant to see commercial launch in April 2006

FRENCH carmaker PSA Peugeot Citroen plans to launch commercial production in its Trnava plant in April 2006. Production tests should start at the beginning of 2006, project director Alain Baldeyrou told the press.

In 2006 the plant's production should reach 50,000 cars, he added.

By the end of 2006 the plant should employ 3,500 workers, and personnel recruitment will commence in the middle of next year, Baldeyrou said. He added that about 10 to 15 suppliers should be located directly in the supplier park on the plant's premises, the news wire SITA wrote.

Total investments by PSA in the Trnava plant should reach €700 million. The aim of the investment is to increase PSA's market share to approximately 16 percent in the region of central and eastern Europe. The maximum production capacity of the plant should be 290,000 cars annually.
