ALL those who own an ID with a chip will be able to declare their taxes through the web thanks to a new webportal, the testing version of which the Financial Directorate presented shortly before Christmas.
Beginning January 1, 2014, all those who pay VAT to the state budget will be obliged to use electronic communication in relation to the tax authorities. The same obligation goes for advocates, tax advisers and representatives who communicate with tax authorities on behalf of the businesspeople. All other tax subjects can voluntarily decide whether they want to communicate through the Internet or in person, the Sme daily reported.
The new portal is rather simple and can be navigated intuitively, with no important information being buried in complicated piles of links, according to Sme reporters who tried to file tax return through the testing version of the portal. It is the first state web ever which offers the users the option to communicate with the tax authorities through a live chat, the kind that Internet shopping sites often use, Sme wrote.
The communication through the portal will be possible for all those who own a new electronic ID with the guaranteed electronic signature. Alternatively, the tax subjects can close an agreement about electronic communication with the Financial Directorate.
The actual payment of taxes is not possible through the site at the moment, but over the next year the authorities are planning to change that. The portal should then make it possible for taxpayers to pay their taxes with a credit card.
