Imrich Andrejčák, an opposition HZDS deputy, commenting on Premier Mikuláš Dzurinda's cancellation of amnesties, granted by former Premier Vladimír Mečiar, for those involved in the kidnapping of the son of former Slovak President Michal Kováč and marring the 1997 referendum on direct presidential elections.
"I am glad I've had a chance to express my opinion on this issue, as well as on the freedom of press and the freedom of speech in Slovakia. I can honestly say that I'm not sure whether I, as a parliamentary deputy, will have such a chance in the near future."
Katarína Tóthová, opposition HZDS deputy and ex-vice-premier, complaining in parliament that the Slovak media had paid too little attention to the speech of General Prosecutor Michal Vaĺo, who is scheduled to be recalled by the government.
