PARLIAMENT will hold a repeated vote on the chamber's deputy speaker today after ruling parties failed yesterday to support New Citizen's Alliance (ANO) member Ľubomír Lintner for the post in a secret ballot.

In the vote, only 60 MPs supported Lintner. 76 were needed to elect the official.

Following the vote, ANO refused to vote on any other laws until the coalition guaranteed that their MPs would vote in favour of Lintner.

A new deputy speaker must be elected to fill in the post of Pavol Rusko, who left parliament recently to become Economy Minister.

The opposition party Smer, meanwhile, is also considering nominating a candidate but an agreement on the matter among the opposition parties has not been achieved.
