The departing rector of Alexander Dubček University in Trenčín, Miroslav Mečár, will return to a dean’s seat as the Academic Senate of the Faculty of Socio-Economic Relations elected him as its new dean. The University Senate has questioned this choice, the SITA newswire reported.
Mečár, who after a series of scandals resigned from rector’s post as of March 1, was elected instead of the previous dean who was recently recalled by the Faculty Senate. That dean’s children belonged to those who studied in a fast-track course and graduated after just a few months of study.
SITA had failed to get additional information from representatives of the Faculty Senate. The Academic Senate elected Ivan Knepp, the current Vice-Rector, to lead the University temporarily. He was authorized to lead the University by Education Minister Ján Mikolaj, starting from March 1. SITA
