A PROPOSED technology park that would house 7,000 jobs and 3,000 residents in Bratislava has taken another step on the road to development.
Bratislava Mayor Andrej Ďurkovský, Vajnory Mayor Ján Mrva and a representative of the German Cepit Holding company, Axel Albrecht, signed a memorandum of understanding and mutual cooperation on the Central European Park for Innovative Technologies Bratislava (CEPIT) project on November 16.
Mrva said the agreement is the first step towards the construction of the park, which is expected to start in the first half of 2008.
Albrecht told the SITA newswire that the German investor wants to invest €100 million (Sk3.3 billion) in the next three or four years. Each phase of the project would have its own investor.
The Vajnory district is interested in entering the CEPIT association and developing a trade company, CEPIT Property Management, with the investor in the next six months.
The CEPIT scientific and technological park is being promoted as the only park in Central Europe that will focus on applications for cutting-edge technologies in the fields of electrical engineering, micro-technologies, IT and electronics. It will house companies that specialise in the development of biotechnology and energy from renewable resources.
