Construction companies Skanska SK and Strabag have reportedly submitted the cheapest bid for construction of one of the remaining sections of Slovakia’s main D1 highway. They offered to build the Lietavská Lúčka-Dubná Skala section, including the 7.5-kilometre Višňové tunnel, for €338.3 million, the TASR newswire reported.
The second lowest bid, submitted by Doprastav, was reportedly €382.8 million, while the third, submitted by a consortium consisting of Dúha and Impregilo, was €409.8 million, TASR wrote.
The state had originally assumed that the bids would be up to three times higher.
Construction should take about six years. When completed, Višňové will be the longest tunnel in Slovakia.
