THE ANNUAL inflation rate in Slovakia in November climbed to 4.3 percent, exceeding market expectations by 0.3 percentage points. Consumer prices in Slovakia rose 0.6 percent on a monthly basis, the Statistics Bureau reported.
ČSOB bank analyst Silvia Čechovičová attributed the growth to more expensive natural gas for households. Food prices, which traditionally grow at the end of the year, contributed to this trend as well.
Čechovičová added that more expensive alcohol and tobacco along with a seasonal increase in prices of clothing and footwear pushed inflation upwards as well.
