A seven-member Slovak medical team officially began work at the KAIA airport in Kabul, Afghanistan.
They took up their service as part of the fourth contingent of a Field Hospital and a Chemical Unit of the Czech Army, which operates in Afghanistan in the NATO ISAF mission, a spokesman for the Slovak Armed Forces told the SITA newswire.
Six members of the Slovak medical team have previous experience from service in international missions in East Timor and Lebanon. Slovak and Czech Defence Ministers Jaroslav Baška and Vlasta Parkanova signed a Memorandum of Understanding between the Slovak and Czech Defence Ministries on the eve of the NATO summit in Bucharest, on April 2 of this year.
